20 Easy Kid-Friendly Midweek Dinners

If you lack inspiration for easy midweek meals that the entire family will love then you need to check out these ideas.

These kid-friendly dinner ideas are easy to put together and will get the thumbs-up from your kids.

Homemade chicken nuggets

This is one of our midweek staple meals that we come back to again and again. You can serve these nuggets with a baked potato, wedges, salad, veggies or in a wrap, they’re so versatile.

I occasionally like to switch the chicken for turkey in this recipe too, just to change things up a little.

Pork chops and gnocchi

I love this recipe so much as it takes less than 30 minutes to put together and it is so delicious it feels like a real treat to eat it.

This recipe features a lovely grainy mustard sauce that has a delicious kick to it. For kids who do not love hot mustard, try ditching the mustard so that you get just a creamy sauce.

Prawn and chorizo jambalaya

I love the heat in this tasty rice dish, plus you can slip plenty of veggies into it and the kids just don’t notice thanks to the tasty spicy chorizo.

This recipe features paella rice cooked in stock with fried chorizo and prawns.

Pizza pinwheels

If you want to make something that has a wow factor for your kids but takes very little effort then this is the way to go!

I buy pre-made, pre-rolled pastry, then cover it with pasatta and cheese, then add whatever toppings my kids like. It could be sliced peppers, pepperoni, ham or mushrooms. Or anything really!

Tortilla pizza

Making pizza from scratch is great at the weekend when you have a bit of time to make the dough, however if you are tight on time then these tortilla pizzas are perfect.

Simply grab a tortilla and add whatever toppings you like before baking in the oven for just a few minutes.

We like to add a little tomato passata, some grated mozzarella and whatever toppings I have in the fridge – ham, cherry tomatoes, peppers and ground beef always go down well.

See the tortilla pizza recipe.

Fluffy pancakes

I adore having breakfast for dinner. It’s such a treat, and straightforward to prepare!

Fluffy pancakes for toddlers with fruit

We serve our pancakes with either maple syrup and fruit or syrup and bacon. Sometimes I will add some poached eggs to the plate as well.

Making pancakes from scratch is incredibly cheap and generally speaking I always have the ingredients for them – flour, eggs and milk.

Mini toad in the hole

These toad in the holes may be mini, but that doesn’t mean they’re not great for family members of all ages!

I personally prefer these to making one big tray of toad in the hole, I think the pastry actually cooks better this way. I make it in a muffin tray, the same I use when I am making Yorkshire pudding.
