One of the best things about visiting the seaside is without a doubt the fish and chips.
We’ve spent many happy holidays in Cornwall munching on bags of fish and chips by the seafront with the children as they try to guard their food from hungry seagulls.
Great memories make for wonderful play opportunities even when you’re at home far away from the sea, so it was lovely for the girls to be sent a Seaside Fish and Chips Shop by the people at Great Little Trading Company (GLTC).

This absolutely beautiful pretend play toy features beautifully finished wooden food including chips and fish pieces plus a very pretty shop front so your child can serve up their own fish and chip takeaways.
There’s some lovely attention detail, including the painting on the lemon wedges and peas to make them look more realistic. The salt shaker even makes a very gentle shaking noise as if there are tiny salt grains inside it.
The size is perfect if you are short on space but want your child to have their own pretend shop to play with.
It fits just right on our children’s play table, but they can also easily move it around the house for pretend play on the go!
What do you get with the Seaside Fish and Chips Shop
The Seaside Fish and Chips Shop from GLTC comes flat-packed.
The wooden shop part takes around 25 minutes to construct and is easy for one person to do on their own. You will need a Philips screwdriver for this part. The instructions were simple to follow and once it is constructed the shop feels extremely solid.
The newspaper cones to serve the chips need to be wrapped up and stuck into place but this takes just seconds to do.

The chip shop costs £55 and is suitable for children aged three and over.
GLTC has a range of other tabletop toys including an ice cream shop, post office, and cafe.
They also sell a wooden till which would work perfectly alongside the fish and chip shop.
What did we think of the Seaside Fish and Chips Shop
The kids absolutely adore their Seaside Fish and Chips Shop.
The attention to detail on the toy is just lovely, with the bright seaside blue shop front looking just like something you would see in a pretty seaside village in Cornwall.
The wooden food includes everything you need to serve up takeaway fish and chips, plus the newspaper to wrap it in.
Everything feels solid and of great quality, from the little tubs of peas and the pretty lemon wedges to the beautiful blue shopfront. It all works together to spark so much imagination.
The second the kids started to play with the shop they got to work serving up fish and chips for the whole family.
I challenged them to give me six chips, two lemon wedges and a piece of fish. They loved counting out the food and I loved seeing them playing and learning at the same time!
The shop features different compartments and the big shelf with holes for the newspaper cones. This means your child can decide where they pop the food ready to be served, then they use the tongs to dish up the fish and chips.
There’s also a handy hook at the back where you can hang up the tongs.
It’s a great way for them to practice so many important skills, including fine motor skills, counting and of course using their imagination.
Plus when playtime is over, it’s very easy to pop the food into the compartments of the shop and pop it on a shelf in the playroom ready for the next play session.
