WUKA period pants combine comfort with kicking ass in one brilliant package.

I’ve been reviewing the WUKA (which stands for Wake Up Kick Ass) period pants this month and can report they are everything you need to get through that time of the month.

I swapped disposable period products for reusable ones two years ago and have not looked back since!
It’s quite a liberating feeling knowing that you no longer need to rush out to the shops to stock up on your disposable period products.
Having the reusable period pants means you’re always ready for that time of the month to strike, no panic needed.
You can also watch my review of the WUKA period pants over on YouTube right here:
Why switch to reusable period pants?
First of all if you’ve never tried reusable period pants let’s talk about why you definitely should.
There are many great reasons to ditch the disposables for good and choose reusable period pants instead.
Reusable period pants are great because:
- They are better for the environment because you aren’t sending monthly waste to landfill.
- You won’t have a last-minute dash to the shops for emergency supplies.
- No leaks – unlike liners which can slip these pants have the absorbent pads built in.
- They save you money! Over the course of two years you may spend around £160 on sanitary pads, according to WUKA. But a five-pack of WUKA period pants costs £80.
So period pants can create a huge saving in your budget and are great for the planet! So you feel better off and good about your choice.
Review of WUKA period pants
I was sent two pairs of period pants to try out by the lovely people at WUKA.
They are:
- WUKA Ultimate midi brief – heavy flow (£24.99). These are made from eco-friendly fabric and feature full coverage at the back – for dry nights – without feeling bulky.

- WUKA Basics hipster pants – medium flow (£12). Made from organic cotton and suitable for medium flow days – able to absorb two to three tampons worth.

My first impressions on opening the box was that I loved the bright red packaging and branding. It’s really striking.

The pants themselves look great and feel soft.
Comfort is so important when you’re on your period and these pants fit so well thanks to the stretchy fabric.
They don’t pinch at the legs or feel tight around the tummy. I am normally a size 12 to 14 so receive an L in both pairs of pants. I found the fit spot on.
Most importantly you can hardly feel the absorbent padding, which is not too bulky even in the heavy flow pants. When wearing these I simply forget all about them and got on with my busy day – which is exactly what you need!
The padding is noticeable when you hold the period pants up as you can just see the pants don’t flex as much around that area. But once they’re on no one would be able to tell you are wearing period underwear.
I love the design of the pants, which are simple black. The mid briefs have the cool WUKA branding around the waistband which looks really great.
WUKA recommends you change the heavy flow pants every eight hours – however I found they were absolutely fine overnight for longer than this. If you’re out late at work you may need to plan ahead with some spare pants in your bag.
I had no leaks with either the medium or heavy flow period pants, so felt totally secure night and day when wearing them.
Thanks to the moisture wicking top-layer I always felt dry too even on heavy flow days.
The pants are made from antibacterial fabric to protect from odour and bacteria.
Because you cannot tumble dry WUKA period pants you will need a few pairs to get you through one period. I would recommend starting with at least three, preferably four to five.
Key features of WUKA period pants
- Choice of styles and flow to fit your taste and stage of your period.
- Comes in three different flows – light, medium and heavy.
- Leak proof and breathable
- Wash at 40C and line dry
- Heavy flow pants hold at least 20ml of period flow or last up to eight hours
- The WUKA period pants tend to last around two years. The material is biodegradable so you can recycle them via your local clothing recycling centre.
What I thought of the WUKA period pants

These period pants are comfortable, don’t feel bulky and most importantly keep you dry and comfortable day and night.
Plus they do all of that while looking just like regular pants and are made from sustainably sourced materials!
WUKA has just released a new product – seamless period pants made from nylon – so it’s well worth checking out their online store to see the different styles available.
I thoroughly recommend the WUKA brand as a way to ditch the disposables once and for all – saving you money while saving the planet at the same time.
