Adorable double barrel names are such a lovely way to give your baby girl a unique name!
Although double barrel names are growing in popularity, they have not yet cracked into the top 100 most popular baby names.
That means you can find a rarely used baby name – or put together something unique for your baby – by using this creative trend.
One syllable names make the most popular choice when it comes to the second part of a double barrel name. This is because it is a far more tidy sound and brings the name together prettily.
For this reason you will find the most popular names to use as the second part of a double barrel name are Rose, Rae, May, Mae and Grace.
However that doesn’t rule out two syllable names, for example Lily pairs really nicely with combinations such as Amelia-Lily and Mia-Lily.
For rare girl names you can combine whatever you want to find something that no one else has used before – for example why not try Harper-Brave or Oda-North.
We’ve got over 150 double barrel girl names for you to choose from to help you decide!

How to pick a double barrel name
Here are a few tips for choosing a double barrel name or even inventing one of your own.
Get creative
When it comes to making your own double barrel baby girl name then get creative.
It’s exciting to create something that is totally unique so think outside the box when it comes to names – for example Snow or Star as the second part of your double barrel are really pretty.
Consider the sound
The point of a double barrel name is that the sounds work well together. With middle names you can get away with less of a blended sound however you need to really marry a double barrel name so that the words work seamlessly together.
For example Lacie-Evie is not going to sound as natural as Lacie-Mae. The two need to compliment each other and flow together when it comes to sounds.
This is why one syllable names work so well in this type of moniker, however I want to stress it does not have to be a one syllable name!
Make it snappy
A double barrel name shouldn’t be too complex to pronounce. It needs to be as easy to say as a single standing first name if it will be used as your baby’s name every day.
That doesn’t mean you have to stick to two syllable names to make it work, some gorgeous four syllable names like Olivia work really great as a double barrel when combined with names like Rae or Rain.
Try different combinations
Write down your ideas, starting by writing down all of the names you really love.
Then consider what works together and what doesn’t. Write down the pairings you think will work and sound them out loud to try them out. You will decide pretty quickly what works well and what names don’t quite connect together.
