If you have budding chefs, then the Big Steps Play City Deli is going to be right up their street!

Imaginative play is something that keeps my two girls occupied for hours on end.

Once they find a game or a scenario they love, they will repeat it again and again.

One of their favourite games to play is cooking. They love to pretend to prepare sandwiches, pizzas, cakes and bread. Then they enjoy pretending to serve it up to me – I’ve got very good at making yummy noises while chewing on air.

We’ve gathered quite a bit of play food, but we had yet to try out a play kitchen, so when the girls clapped eyes on the Big Steps Play City Deli, they were so excited to play.

The toy comes with minimal packaging, just a cardboard wrap around the food truck, which is brilliant. I hate having piles of cardboard to deal with after opening!

The stickers to decorate the truck, banner for the truck, food and cooking utensils are all stowed inside the generous trunk of the vehicle. This is a brilliant storage space, not just for the food that comes with the truck, but anything else you or your child wants to keep there when play time is over.

The truck comes with wheels, so your little one can enjoy pushing it around to find the perfect spot to serve their food. It’s super light and compact, so it’s easy for toddlers to move about.

There is an easy-to-follow guide showing where the stickers go on the outside of the truck and on the sauce and juice bottles.

The set comes with all the food you would expect from street truck, including fries, hot dog, donuts, chicken drumsticks, burger and sauces. There are also two paper trays to serve the food on to hungry customers.

There’s brilliant attention to detail on the truck, with a little deep fat fryer, a grill to fry the burgers plus two buttons that make music and sound effects of food sizzling away.

My 20-month-old and three-year-old have spent hours playing with this toy. They love to fill the truck with toys, or pretend to serve each other, and me, food. It’s a fantastic way to encourage imagination and creativity during playtime.
