We were sent the LeapFrog Scoop and Learn Ice Cream Cart to review, and the girls haven’t stopped playing with it since.
This sweet little toy has been a real hit with my two girls – who are both huge fans of ice cream and would eat it all day long if they could!
There’s so much to do with this lovely little ice cream cart that it keeps them amused for hours every day.
I was impressed by quite how many different functions and pieces there were to the cart, as well as the different sounds and learning challenges that kids can play along with.
The Scoop and Learn Ice Cream Cart is suitable for kids aged from two to five years.
Kids can pretend to serve ice cream in any way they want, or they can follow the instructions from the order cards, which are inserted into the “cash register” and then the cart speaks to your child.
This cart is brilliant for pretend play, and my kids have been bringing us different flavours of ice cream ever since they got it!
Key features of the Scoop and Learn Ice Cream Cart
Magic ice cream scooper. Simply place it on top of a scoop of ice cream and it picks up the ice cream. To release the ice cream on to the cone, simply push the button on the side.
Double sided order/activity cards can be inserted into the card reader and give kids challenges via the speaker in the cart.
Wheels and a handle to push the cart around. The cart plays music and songs as it is moved around, which is ideal for little ones who are practicing their walking.
Syrup pump with the option to choose from three different flavours.
Bell to ring and get the ice cream server’s attention!
What does the Scoop and Learn Ice Cream Cart do?
Switch on the ice cream cart and there are various interactive elements that make noises as your child plays with them.
The magic ice cream scoop, which can pick up the ice cream flavours with special magnets fitted inside, knows what flavour ice cream your child has picked up and announces this as your child picks up different flavours.
The syrup pump makes a sound as your child pushes it, and they can slide between three different flavours.
Children can either play with the ice cream in any way they want, or they can follow the challenges from the activity cards. The cards are inserted into a slot at the cash register and are a brilliant way of challenging kids in a fun way that also helps them learn numbers, colours and problem-solving. The cards ask children to complete different orders in ways that help nurture a particular area of learning.
The activity cards included are:
Colours Activity card. Challenges kids to find the correct ice cream scoop colour and topping.
Counting activity card. Listen to the question and pump the syrup pump the correct number of times to answer.
Flavours activity card. Challenges kids to find the right flavour of ice cream.
Numbers activity card. Asks kids to answer a math question by pressing the coin button the correct number of times.
Stacking activity card. Challenges kids to stack as many ice cream scoops and toppings onto a cone as possible before the music stops.
Creativity activity card. Lets kids create their own ice cream cone using the magic scooper.
What’s included with the Scoop and Learn Ice Cream Cart
Four ice cream flavours (two of each) – vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and mint
Three toppings – orange sprinkles, red cherry sauce and white whipped cream
Six double-sided activity cards
Ice cream carts – featuring sounds and music. Batteries (3 AA) included.
This sweet little cart has so many different interactive features that I know they will get so much out of it.
The girls have loved playing with this ice cream cart. They love the different coloured ice cream scoops and building them up to make a huge ice cream cone.
The activity cards are perfect for my older daughter, who has enjoyed following the challenges from the different themes.
The toy is easy for children to play with, with intuitive controls and sounds that come on to describe what flavour or colour of ice cream your child has just picked up.
The Scoop and Learn Ice Cream Cart is brilliant for teaching your child new skills, but your child won’t know that they are learning with all the fun going on. I would thoroughly recommend this toy for toddlers and pre-schoolers.
