Looking for a fun Elf on the Shelf magic trick that will really make your kids smile?

In this Elf on the Shelf idea the Elf has managed to cast a spell that causes gummy bears to spill out of the faucet in the bathroom.

I think this fun and creative Elf idea works best in the bathroom sink because the distance between the faucet and the actual basin is shorter.

How to do the Elf on the Shelf gummy bears faucet trick

You do not actually need a whole lot of stuff to put this little stunt together.

A glue gun or very strong super glue is essential. I found a hot glue gun worked far better at sticking the bears together.

You also need a wooden stick – I used a barbecue skewer – to stick the bears to for the “water” coming out of the tap.

Extra gummy bears are then scattered around inside the basin so that it looks like it has been filling up!

Don’t forget that you do not have to use gummy bears – try some other type of sweet treats instead if that’s what you have in the house!

Materials

  • Gummy Bears - at least 50
  • Wooden stick/skewer

Tools

  • Glue gun

Instructions

  1. Measure how long you need to trim back your wooden stick so that it can be wedged between the faucet and plughole. Now snap or trim it to size.
  2. Using a glue gun, stick the gummy bears to the wooden stick so that they hide the stick completely. Leave a small gap at both ends of the stick.
  3. Wedge the stick between the faucet and plughole. Use gummy bears to cover up the ends of the stick.
  4. Add gummy bears to the basin, scattering some around the edges too. It should look like the gummy bears have "splashed" out of the faucet. Use as many as you like.
  5. Place Elf on the faucet with his arms wrapped around it so it looks like he switched it on himself.
