If you need a little extra help with choosing your baby’s middle name then try these handy tips:

Produce a shortlist. Write down your favourite names. Your partner can have their own list of favourite names too. Then put them together and see if there are any you agree on and if there are any you definitely disagree with.

Don’t rush to make a choice. You don’t have to have a firm choice ahead of your due date. We took 10 days after the birth of both my kids before we managed to decide on a name for sure.

Take a break for a few weeks. If you’re having these discussions about your baby’s name ahead of the birth then you’ve got some time! It’s OK to step away from the discussions for a few weeks. I recommend writing down your favourite names on a piece of paper and sticking that to the fridge or somewhere you will see it every day. Consider the names and then chat with your partner again when you’ve had some time to think.
