How to set up the Elf on the Shelf fortune teller
Setting up this Elf on the Shelf idea is extremely easy.
All you need to do is download your free printable (find it at the end of this article). The PDF can just be saved to your computer or phone and you can then print as many copies as you need.
Once your PDF has been printed, then you can follow the instructions included to fold your fortune teller.
When your fortune teller is folded you can then just set it out next to your Elf ready for your kids to discover in the morning.
If you want then leave out a letterboard or a note saying “Let’s play!” with your printable.
How to play with your fortune teller
Never played with a fortune teller before? It’s simple.
Hold the fortune teller in your hand and pick one of the Christmas colours. Open and close the origami shape each side for every letter of the colour you chose.
Then pick a number from the ones visible, and count up to that number while opening and closing the origami shape again.
Now pick a number that’s visible and lift the flap to reveal the joke or fortune. You can repeat this again and again!
