Delicious Crêpes Recipe for Baby

Crêpes are a perfect meal for your baby and can be accompanied by a range of toppings or fillings.

You can make both sweet and savoury versions of these tasty crepes. Whenever I made this recipe for my babies I also made them for us too, as they’re a crowd-pleaser meal for the whole family.

Baby led weaning crepes

Once my kids were toddlers I would serve crepes with bacon and maple syrup occasionally, but even now they’re bigger they still love having them with fruit.

These thin pancakes are simple to make and with just a few ingredients needed to put them together, they’re perfect as a last-minute dinner idea for your baby.

Here are a few top tips for cooking this crepes recipe to perfection:

  • As with any baby recipes I do not add any salt to this recipe, as you may do with an adult crepe recipe.
  • When serving your crepes you can simply roll them up and let your baby pick them up to eat.
  • Alternatively you can roll them then slice them to create strips that are easier to hold.
  • Your mixture should be a little runny.
  • When cooking coat the pan with a thin layer of the batter.
  • Before flipping the crepe check it is ready by gently lifting a corner of the crepe with a spatula to see if golden spots are appearing.
  • These make a perfect meal to serve baby on Pancake Day! Alternatively try my blueberry pancakes for baby.

Baby-friendly toppings for crêpes

What can you serve with your crepes for baby? Of course you could just serve them plain as a quick snack.

Alternatively add one or more of these toppings/fillings to really make this a tasty meal:

  • Yoghurt
  • Berries – Tear raspberries in half and cut strawberries into thin slices.
  • Bananas – Try mashing them and combining with yoghurt and then popping this mixture inside the crepes before rolling them up.
  • Peanut butter – If this is you baby’s first time trying peanuts then follow medical advice and introduce them to a small amount first. Always ask a healthcare professional if you’re unsure regarding nut allergies.
  • Apple puree
  • Cheese

A simple and versatile meal or snack for baby.

Ingredients

  • 70g plain flour
  • 100ml milk
  • 50ml water
  • 1 egg
  • 10g unsalted butter melted plus extra for frying
