Looking for unique and cool push presents for dads to celebrate their new baby?

Although push presents are usually given to the mother – who has “pushed” the baby into the world – they are now becoming a thing for dads too.

New dad with newborn baby

Some parents like to exchange push presents in order to celebrate each other and the new life they’ve welcomed into the world. It’s a new and exciting chapter after all!

But close relatives may also want to treat a new dad to something cool, useful or just plain fun to mark this special moment.

What is a push present?

First of all you may be wondering what a push present actually is! A push present is traditionally a gift given to a mother after she has given birth (or pushed her baby out!).

It’s become increasingly popular for dads to also receive a push present to celebrate the arrival of their child.

This may be given by the mother, or by a close relative like a sibling or their parents, to mark them becoming a dad.

So you could refer to it as a male version of push present, or just a new dad gift.

Whatever you call it, it’s a way of both celebrating a new dad’s role, congratulating them on the arrival of their child and/or giving them practical help.

Let’s check out some cool dad push present ideas!

30 push presents for dad

1. Meals

One of the best ways to help new parents is to give them a break from having to cook.

Put together a care package of ready meals or find a company that specialises in delicious frozen meals delivered to people’s door.

In the UK, Cook is a fantastic option and they sell gift cards that are perfect for new parents! Their meals are so tasty, check out this Cook gift voucher

2. Drink

The new parents won’t be throwing any wild parties any time soon, but it may be nice for them to toast the new arrival at some stage.

A special bottle of Champagne or cocktail mix is a lovely gesture.

You could also personalise it with a new dad wine or drink bottle label and this new dad beer label.

3. Baby carrier

Baby wearing is much easier than taking a pushchair out and about every day.

Even if a couple already has a baby carrier, a second one can prove to be really useful as it saves them adjusting the straps every time they switch turns of carrying the baby.

Also mums and dads may differ on what type of carrier they prefer to use!

The Baby Bjorn carrier is super popular with dads.

4. Portable coffee mug

All those walks to attempt to get baby to nap will be much more fun with coffee on the go.

He’ll love a practical, cool coffee mug.

Or this sweet personalised portable coffee mug is also great for a new daddy.

5. Matching father and son/daughter tees

Twinning is winning! There are some super cute father/child matching outfits out there.

Here are some of my favourites:

Pizza and a slice tee and baby bodysuit.

Gamer Player 1 and Player 2 outfits.

Brew Dad and Micro Brew outfits.

Pint and Half Pint outfits.

6. Cool dad mug

Does the new dad love to drink coffee? In that case he will love a personalised mug to drink his coffee, or tea, out of showing everyone he’s been promoted to dad!

I love this awesome new dad mug.

7. Family artwork

A beautiful piece of artwork that dad can keep in their office or somewhere else they will see every day is a lovely sentimental gift.

There are all sorts of different types of artwork you could get to treat a dad – from a full family portrait to cute personalised art like this Scrabble-themed “Our Family” poster.

I also love this poster for dads that you can personalise with a picture and dates.

8. Photo album

One thing’s for sure, a new dad will take a lot of photos!

Remind him to get those precious images printed with a photo album.

Or you could get him a voucher for a printed photo album – which could be a nice project for him to put together after baby’s first few weeks.

9. Personalised bracelet

A leather bracelet featuring the family’s names is a cool way for dad to carry his family with him everywhere he goes.

I love this personalised dad bracelet.

10. Dad joke book

Make him laugh with a light-hearted push present for dads like this fun Dad Jokes book.

11. Dad bag

Some parents like to share a diaper bag but it can be useful to have one each – especially if mum and dad have different tastes.

A perfect dad bag has space for all changing essentials plus the baby stuff he’ll need when out and about.

Backpacks are really useful because they leave hands free for picking up baby and playing. Look for a bag that includes a portable changing mat – that folds up small – or alternatively you can buy a portable changing mat separately.

This changing bag essentials checklist may be useful.

12. Coffee machine

If he loves a coffee in the morning then a brand new coffee machine is a perfect treat.

You could go for a drip coffee maker or something far more fancy to replicate the coffee shop experience!

13. Coffee subscription

If you’re on more of a budget then a coffee subscription is a great gift for a coffee lover.

There are so many different options out there – and you could opt for a short subscription or go for an entire year!

14. Stroller for jogging

If he’s a runner then a stroller that’s specifically engineered for jogging is an amazing gift so he can keep up with his physical activity.

The BOB Gear stroller gets the thumbs up from running industry experts.

15. Portable neck fan

This is a must-have for a summer born baby! In hot weather a portable neck fan is a fantastic gift for a new dad.

They look a bit like headphones, but you keep them around your neck and there are fans on either side of your face blowing cool air.

This is such a great way to stay cool on hot days when your hands are full with the baby!

16. Dad and baby book

A book that explores the father and child relationship is a lovely gift.

Storytime is a precious daily moment (I have such fond memories of reading to my babies) and he’ll love a book such as this Me and My Dad story.

17. Fatherhood book

This new chapter in their life can be a very steep learning curve! Help them out with a book about fatherhood and new babies.

You could try a practical book such as this Baby Tips for a New Dad book, or go for a book that will help them see the day-to-day challenges of parenting with humour! I love the Man Vs Baby book.

18. Newspaper from baby’s day of birth

One day it will be fascinating to look back on what was in the news on the day their baby was born.

So getting a hold of one or two newspapers from the day of baby’s birth is a perfect gift – especially as dad was probably too busy on the day of the birth to get a copy for himself!

19. Desk organiser

A desk organiser with a personalised message for the new dad is something he can look at every day – plus it’s practical.

20. Personalised glass

If he loves to drink scotch or some other tipple at the end of a busy week then a cool personalised new dad tumbler or glass is a great gift.

I think this “Dad’s Sippy Cup” glass is so fun!

21. A new watch

If you’re on a bigger budget then a new watch is a wonderful way to treat a new dad.

For a really cool gift go for an Apple Watch. And don’t forget to get engraving so that he’ll always remember the sentiment behind the gift.

22. Hoodie with baby pouch

Dad can keep baby close and snug with a warm hoodie with space to zip up baby inside too.

I love this men’s new dad hoodie from Seraphine.

23. Personalised book

The Wonderbly range of personalised books are so fun and special!

I love this new dad book – Daddy’s Magic Hugs.

It’s bound to become a favourite at bedtime!

24. Indoor/outdoor slippers

Comfy slippers with hard soles are useful for quick trips outside – for example when you need to get rid of the dirty diapers!

These slippers are a great combination of comfortable and practical.

25. Grill cookbook

If he loves to barbecue then a new grill cookbook can provide him with new inspiration!

While lots of these gifts celebrate his new role as a dad, I think it’s also nice to remember the interests he had before baby came along.

If he loves to grill, then this is a nice way to encourage him to continue enjoying a hobby.

This Ultimate Book of Grilling is perfect.

26. “I love dad” outfit for baby

Surprise him with a fun outfit for the baby that is bound to make him smile!

I did something similar for my husband – we were watching a lot of Breaking Bad when our first baby was born and so I surprised him with a “Breaking Dad” bodysuit for our baby.

I also really love this “You Can Do This Dad” bodysuit.

27. A hamper of favourite treats

For a truly personal and thoughtful gift you could put together a new dad gift basket of all his favourite treats. Some things to include:

  • His favourite beer
  • His favourite chocolate/candy/sweets
  • A new book he will enjoy

28. Back massager

All those late nights walking baby to help them nap and sitting in awkward positions while they snooze on him may mean he will appreciate a back massager.

It can help him relax and unwind. This back massager that also utilises heat gets great reviews.

29. Ancestry gift card

Welcoming a new addition to the family is the perfect reason to look back to the past and research the family tree!

Get them an Ancestry gift card that will help them research your family’s origins.

30. Phone/wallet finder

Lack of sleep means stuff is bound to get lost a lot. It’s always the keys that go missing in our house!

Make it way easier to find the important items with a Tile Mate – these discreetly fit to your vital stuff and help you track them down quickly.

31. Audible subscription

If he loves podcasts and audio books then an Audible subscription will be a real treat.

This could be a great way to help out during those late night feeds when he’s too tired to read and needs a little entertainment.
