Paw Patrol Count With Marshall and Ryder’s Alphabet Tablet toy review

If your kids love Paw Patrol as much as my two do then they will love these cute Paw Patrol learning toys featuring the pups.

Not only do they offer a ton of fun with voices of the characters from the hit show, but they are all about making learning fun.

Trying out the Paw Patrol Count With Marshall toy

We were sent the Paw Patrol Count With Marshall Toy and Ryder’s Alphabet Tablet to test out. My three-year-old’s face lit up the second she saw them and she has since spend hours playing with them.

Ryder's Alphabet Tablet

The Paw Patrol show follows a team of pups, known as the Paw Patrol, who each have special skills that help them carry out rescues and missions in their home town of Adventure Bay.

Their leader is Ryder, a young boy who keeps an eye on where everyone is and issues messages to his pups using his Pup Pad.

There are several things that draw little ones to the show. First of all it has dogs that talk in it, secondly they have cool kit to help them on missions and thirdly it’s all about adventures.

It’s easy to see why pre-schoolers are so hooked on Paw Patrol. For that reason its great to see toys that draw on that popularity to make amazing learning toys for kids.

Let’s take a closer look at the two toys and what we thought of them.

Paw Patrol Count With Marshall toy review

The Paw Patrol Count With Marshall toy features Marshall in his famous red fire truck.

There’s a slot at the front of his rescue vehicle where kids can post the little coins that come with the toy.

The back features switches where you can alter the volume – yay! – and change mode so your child gets a different set of challenges.

Playing with the Paw Patrol Count with Marshall toy

The toy is aimed at kids aged over 36 months.

What’s in the box?

  • A Count with Marshall “post box” featuring Marshall’s voice
  • 10 coins featuring numbers and characters from Paw Patrol
  • 3 AAA batteries included

How does it work?

When you are ready to play the toy has a low and high volume mode, which is always greatly appreciated by us parents.

Once you have switched it on you can then choose a mode between colours or numbers, designated as “N” or “C” on the switch at the back.

This means that the toy can help your little one with learning about counting and numbers as well as colours.

In numbers mode Marshall will ask your child to find a particular number between one and 10. Your child then finds the coin with the correct number on and pops that through the slot at the front of Marshall’s fire truck.

Reviewing the Count With Marshall Paw Patrol learning toy

The fire truck has a shield at the front which doubles as a button. Pushing it turns Marshall to challenge mode where he asks your child to insert a certain number of coins or find a particular object pictured on a coin and insert that into the slot.

Count With Marshall toy and coins

There’s a compartment at the back of the toy where the coins are collected. It’s easy for little hands to pop open to retrieve the coins but you may want to just leave the compartment open when your child is playing to make it easier for them to get the coins back.

In colours mode Marshall will ask your child to insert coins with objects of a certain colour. Press the shield and Marshall will ask your little one to find a coin of a particular colour.

Throughout play Marshall will say familiar phrases from the show plus there are little bits of music played too that come from the cartoon.

This is a brilliant toy for teaching your child:

  • Recognising numbers from one to 10.
  • How to count from one to 10.
  • Colours.
  • Problem-solving.

How much is it?

Count with Marshall costs £19.99 and is available from Argos.

What did we think?

This is a fantastic way to teach your child the basics of numbers and help their confidence to grow.

Its a brilliant way to make learning how to count fun.

Ryder’s Alphabet Tablet toy review

Ryder’s Alphabet Tablet is a brilliant introduction to the alphabet and phonics for pre-school children.

Ryder's Alphabet Tablet Paw Patrol toy

It comes with sturdy rubber surround that offers both a handy grip for little hands and cushions the tablet when your child inevitably drops it on the floor.

The tablet features a full A-Z alphabet with pictures of the key characters from the show and objects that correspond to the letters.

It has several different modes for your child to use that challenge them to learn about the alphabet and spelling.

What’s in the box?

  • One tablet with three AAA batteries included

How does it work?

The tablet lets your child learn while having fun with Ryder and the pups! This is not a moving screen tablet, but has a fixed picture with multiple buttons for your child to interact with.

Once you switch it on with the large on/off button at the front Ryder starts to flash and asks your child to find a particular letter or object.

Using the three challenge buttons at the bottom of the toy your child can select what they want to do.

The “abc” button starts a phonics challenge where Ryder sounds out a letter and word beginning with that letter. Your child must then find it on the screen.

The ? Button challenges your child to find a particular character or object on the screen.

The “?kye” button is a spelling challenge asking your little one to find the first letter of a particular word. This is a great way for them to learning about spelling and test their alphabet knowledge.

Our view on the Paw Patrol electronic learning toys

Paw Patrol Learning toys - Ryder Alphabet Tablet and Count with Marshall

The three-year-old absolutely loved playing with both of these toys.

I think the Count with Marshall was a particular hit, as she really enjoyed picking up the coins and posting them through the slot.

She picked up how to use both toys very quickly and I think the voice instructions from the toys telling your child what to do are very clear and easy to understand.

If you have a little fan of Paw Patrol in your house then these are a brilliant gift – plus they will be learning vital skills while having fun!

Also available in the range is the Paw Patrol Smart Phone, which is available for £10.99 from Very. We were not sent this for review but it includes features that let your little one learn about colours and numbers.
