Adorable gender neutral nursery ideas

Scandi beige

Who ever said beige was boring? I am absolutely loving the shades of beige nurseries I am seeing from people. Far from being dull, it feels warm and inviting.

I love how this nursery from Hannah Quinones has used texture and patterns to really make it look so beautiful. And I am especially loving the painted arch on the wall with the hanging shelves – such a lovely way to make a feature in the room of decor.

Nature

A nature theme can celebrate various parts of the animal and natural world around us, or focus in on a particular part. Perhaps you want an ocean theme with coral shapes, pale blue and orange tones.

Or you could try borrowing different elements of nature and combining them, like this beautiful gender neutral nursery by The Little Jones does.

Monochrome

I love the idea of combining black and white to create a fun and striking space in your baby’s room.

This nursery design by the Blue Spruced Home uses a black chest of drawers and white crib, along with a wallpaper that provides texture, depth and a little pop of colour.

Dark

Why not go bold with your baby’s nursery by using dark colours on the walls.

I just love this dark accent wall in this gorgeous gender neutral nursery by Theory Design Studio.

This room brings soft neutral colours and natural textures together with that absolutely stunning dark wall to make a stylish room.

Hot air balloon

Using cute hot air balloon hanging decorations creates a lovely whimsical space and you can pair it with any colour combinations you like. Consider adding wallpaper with a bold pattern or sky design.

I love these balloon room decorations from Pine and Pear Co.

Winnie the Pooh

The adorable bear Winnie the Pooh is now decades old, but he has timeless appeal for kids!

A Winnie the Pooh nursery does not have to adhere to any specific colour scheme. I have seen gorgeous black and white Pooh nurseries, as well as grey, blue and rainbow versions.

I adore this soft yellow design from Emm Morris. Just look at those little subtle appearances by the Winnie the Pooh beloved characters! I think it’s a wonderful way to incorporate this theme into a room without huge murals.

The wood panelling works so well here as well and that shade of yellow is just perfect, sunny and subtle.

Animal kingdom

Who says your nursery theme has to stick with one type of animal? Why not celebrate the entire animal kingdom, from the jungle to the dinosaurs.

This nursery from Renovate HQ features elephants, butterflies, dinosaurs, giraffes and more.

Forest friends

Woodland creatures are a wonderful theme for a little boy or girl. I just adore this idea with the pretty grey and white wallpaper featuring squirrels, bunnies and foxes.

Those finishing touches of the little hanging pegs featuring the basket and rainbow hanging decor is just so perfect.

This room feels cosy and stylish.

Block colours

While some parents look to beige when putting together a gender neutral nursery, others want a splash of colour.

It’s important to note there are no rules about whether a boy or girl can or cannot have blue or pink in their room, so choose the tones and shades you love! A block colour is a great way of making a statement with a pop of colour.

Try yellow, green, orange, shades of deep red or blue to make a gorgeous design.

I love the use of block colours on the wall in this adorable green nursery from Life at Laurens.

I think this idea would also work with shades of blue as well – and the pine wood works so perfectly here.

The little teddy and sweet ornaments on the shelf add a cheerful vibe to the room.

Jungle safari

A cute animal safari theme is perfect for a little boy or girl.

I adore the use of the furry animals on the wall from Life at Eagles Rest.

I love how this nursery pairs sage green splashes of colour with beige and natural wood, it just feels so calming and gentle.

Rustic greenery

Wood panelling works beautifully with a sage green shade to create a calming space.

I really love the use of wallpaper with panelling in this beautiful nursery from Spruce Street Co.

I really like the use of a statement sign in this nursery too.

Terra cotta llama

I just adore the colour terra cotta. It feels perfect for a baby’s room as it’s so warm, vibrant and playful.

Using colour blocking, either with wood panelling or by painting midway up the walls, you can create a really bold baby’s room.

I love this nursery from My Breezy Room, featuring sweet llama pictures on the wall!

Here comes the sun

Your little sunshine will adore spending their first year in this cheerful room. I love the idea of using either a decal or painting on a sun mural on the wall where the baby’s crib goes.

The use of orange and yellow can be either really bright, or tempered like this example where it’s just a lovely subtle burst of colour to work alongside the beige of the wall colour. You could also pair it with deep red in a rug or bedding.

Away in the sky

A dreamy nursery filled with clouds and blue sky is just so tranquil.

Try a feature wall with clouds and birds – which you could create with wallpaper, decals or paint, if you have a talent for that, or some stencils to help you out.

Use pale blue and white, along with a few grey tones, to create this dreamy nursery.

Under the sea

An under the sea theme is a perfect choice for a boy or a girl and the decor is likely to continue to appeal to them into their toddler years, which is fantastic.

Cool blues, oranges and yellows combined with clever prints or decals for the wall will bring this theme to life. I love this ocean themed nursery from @townhouse_on_the_green.

Bunnies

Whether it’s Peter Rabbit or just simple bunnies, a rabbit theme nursery is so perfect for a baby. You can add touches of green and blue, or stick to greys, whites and beiges to keep it neutral.

I adore this pretty nursery from @Thewhighamhome with its lovely hare wallpaper and gentle grey and natural wood colour scheme.
