Activities to do while pregnant at home
Set yourself a reading challenge
Love books? If you’ve started your maternity leave, or are trying to spend more time with your feet up during your pregnancy, then reading is a great way to help you relax.
You could set yourself a reading challenge, such as starting to work through the top 100 books for the year – or maybe check out the top 100 must-read classics and aiming to complete any you haven’t read before.
Binge the must-watch TV shows
Finding a new TV series to enjoy is a perfect way to relax and take your mind off any tiredness or nausea you may be feeling during your pregnancy.
You could check out the top rated TV shows on IMDB and go through the ones you’ve never watched before. Or look at the Rotten Tomatoes recommendations to see what other people are enjoying.
Create a baby scrapbook or journal
Pregnancy and welcoming your baby into the world is such a magical time in your life.
If there’s one thing you won’t regret it’s taking the time to make a record of all the steps of the this new journey you’re embarking on.
You could keep a baby journal where you record your thoughts.
Or try a scrapbook where you can make a note of important dates and add photos of you throughout your pregnancy and pictures of your baby.
Have a pregnancy photoshoot
You could hire a professional photographer to come in and take some pregnancy photos of you to capture the memory of this special time in your life.
Or you can take your own pregnancy belly shots. Check out pictures on Instagram and Pinterest for ideas for your pregnancy photoshoot poses.
Throw a dinner party with friends
If you’re up to cooking – or maybe your partner is a whizz in the kitchen – then it’s fun to have friends over to catch up and spend quality time together before baby arrives.
You could mix up some non-alcoholic cocktails to try out together.
Create a baby registry
A baby registry is a one-stop-shop checklist showing all of the stuff that you still need for your baby.
Creating it with an online store means it’s easy to share with loved ones who may ask you what you need for your baby, or with people who are attending your baby shower.
You can put together a handy baby registry on Amazon and then share it with anyone who asks you what you need for your baby.

Organise and decorate your baby’s room
One of my favourite things to do ahead of my due date was to go through the baby’s nursery and organise everything.
Getting the layout right now is also going to hugely benefit you once baby is born.
It’s also nice to add character and colour to your baby’s room with artwork, decals on the wall, playful light shades and pictures.

Read up on breastfeeding
Of all the things I wish I had done before giving birth to my first baby, this is the one I wish I had paid attention to.
I made assumptions that breastfeeding would be so easy. I was so wrong!
It was noticeably easier with my second baby, when I had already done all of the reading and gone through all of the difficult bits already the first time around.
I really recommend taking some time to read up on breastfeeding, if that’s what you plan to do, before your baby is born. This way you’ll be aware of the mechanics and the potential pitfalls you may encounter.
You could try a book such as the Womanly Art of Breastfeeding.
Or try this amazing Milkology course. It’s online and packed with all of the information you need, plus troubleshooting tips. You can refer back to it after baby is born to help with any issues you may be having.
Fun things to do while pregnant out of the house
Go on holiday
Whether it’s a mini break or a full two-week vacation, a trip away before baby is born is the perfect way to enjoy time as a couple and the final weeks before your baby changes your routine.
If this is your first baby then a relaxing holiday abroad or a city break where you can take leisurely walks exploring the sites are perfect.
If you already have a child then look for a holiday rental somewhere near a beach or in a location with plenty of day trip potential, or a family-friendly resort.
Dinner and a show
This is a great date idea to enjoy with your partner during pregnancy.
Plus if you’re finding that you get really tired early in the evenings, then you could opt to take in a matinee performance and an early dinner so you’re home in time to get the sleep you need.
Take a cooking class
Using the time before baby is born to do things you enjoy and find relaxing is time well spent. If you love to cook then consider taking a class in a particular cuisine.
You’ll likely find classes in your area in all sorts of different types of cooking or baking.
Organise a picnic with family and friends
Spend quality time with your loved ones (if the weather allows).
You could have a picnic in your own garden or plan to meet at a local beauty spot.
Bring non-alcoholic fizz and a spread of dishes to share together.
Take a gentle exercise class
If you don’t already have a particular sport or exercise class that you enjoy then now could be a good time to try something new.
Look for low impact exercise that is safe in pregnancy, such as yoga, pilates, and swimming.
Head for the beach
Enjoy a day trip to your nearest beach and take a stroll along the sand.
This is a relaxing day out and also a great chance to have quality time with your partner to talk, plan for the baby and even hash out your final ideas for baby names.
Final thoughts
I hope this has shown you there are plenty of fun things to do during pregnancy.
