Now that spring is here it’s a great time to refresh your home and welcome the cheery new season.
I love changing things up in our house every now and then. It doesn’t have to cost a lot, or any money, to make a few subtle changes here and there, but it can make the house feel so much brighter.
Here are a few ideas for refreshing your home for spring. Do you have any to add?
1. Add some bright new wall art
Changing your wall art could involve buying new frames and pictures, or just swapping things around to rearrange what you already have.
You could create a new picture wall from your latest family shots, or get some fun and colourful prints to liven up your living space.
I love these aluminium prints from Hello Canvas, which look great. They are something a bit different and fun!
2. Get some green plants
A bit of greenery indoors can brighten up any room. In our bathroom we put up some mini floating shelves and bought three mini succulents on them. It’s really made a difference to the room.
3. Brighten up living rooms with flowers
Fresh flowers are such a lovely way to bring the beauty of spring indoors. You could pick some flowers from your own garden, or opt for some daffodils from the supermarket. They don’t cost a lot but bring a gorgeous splash of colour to your home.
4. Change your curtains and cushions
Pick some bright, vibrant colours and breathe new life into your living areas!
5. Clean and declutter
I think this one is my favourite way to welcome spring. Doing a deep clean can seem really daunting however when it’s done, the difference it makes is incredible.
My spring deep clean involves washing all of the windows, washing curtains, rugs and throws, dusting blinds, scrubbing bathroom floors, cleaning the oven and cleaning the washing machine.
I will also wipe all of the doors in the house with water mixed with a little fabric softener. This makes the house smell great and means you won’t take the paint off of the doors when you clean them.
Decluttering is something I try to do as a part of my regular routine, however some areas I don’t visit too often such as the loft and the garage. Taking a bit of time to clear out old stuff can really free up a lot of space and make your home feel that bit lighter.
