Our family car takes us on adventures virtually every single day.
Whether it be to the local park, on holiday, or to explore somewhere completely new, we couldn’t have half as much fun without our wheels!
So I thought it would be great to share on here what the key features for our perfect family car are – the things that I can no longer live without.
As part of my mission to delve into what makes the perfect car for my little VIPs, I’ve been trying out the Aviva Drive app and the new integrated dash cam.
This handy little app monitors your driving skills AND can save you precious money on your car insurance.
It’s free to download and so simple to try out. The app tracks your driving skills, rewarding safer drivers with an insurance discount, and provides valuable evidence if you are in an accident.
I was amazed at how easy it was to use, why not check it out and see if it could be your latest family car must-have feature!
These are the five things I cannot live without in my car:
1. Parking sensors
These have been a game changer for me.
I have them at the front and rear of the car. Although the bleeping can get a bit nagging at times, it keeps me on my toes and helps me concentrate when I’m getting in and out of tricky spaces.
2. Big boot
No matter how much a buggy promises to be the “smallest ever”, they still need some space to be stowed away on your travels.
We’ve had several staycations in recent years, and having a big boot is absolutely essential. How else are you going to get everything but the kitchen sink to your destination!
3. Sat nav
We do a lot of exploring with the kids. I’m always looking for fun and interesting new places to take them, so our sat nav is absolutely essential.
I don’t want to be flapping about with a map or arguing with my other half about whether I said turn left or right. Sat navs take the stress out of travel, both long and short distance.
Having one built in means you need never worry about forgetting to put it in your handbag again!
4. Safety features
When I’ve got my entire world inside the car, I want to know that it is going to be kept safe.
Cars with airbags, antilock brakes, all-wheel drive and other key safety features are a must for me.
5. A decent stereo
I love nothing more than a bit of cheesy pop music. Now that the girls are getting into Disney and other musicals, they love a good sing along in the car.
I need not only good speakers but a USB connector so that I can plug in my smartphone and get the right music on ASAP. It makes car journeys with kids so much easier, though not peaceful!
So those are my top features of my family car. What do you look for in a family car?
