With both of my girls now old enough to fully appreciate the magic of Christmas, I am so excited for the festive season this year.
There’s definitely something about December that just puts a big smile on my face. Everything is twinkly and bright, people are happy and kids are full of wonder at the Christmas story – and the prospect of Santa visiting, of course.
We’ve been getting into the festive spirit early this year thanks to the lovely people at Toffifee who sent us a beautiful hamper of delicious chocolate and Christmassy goodies.
These yummy treats – made with a crunchy hazelnut in chewy caramel cup with nougat cream and a drop of rich dark chocolate – are the perfect snack to enjoy while you relax as a family.
We were sent a 400g pack of Toffifee, which is ideal for sharing with your family, and some 100g packs which make the perfect stocking filler! They look right at home under our Christmas tree!
So to celebrate the countdown to Christmas, I thought I would share our five favourite ways to relax together as a family during the holiday season. Are any of these on your list, or is there something else you and your family love to do together? Let me know!
1. Make hot chocolate
This is the ultimate winter warmer. Filling the mug with some delicious marshmallows just makes it even better.
2. Snuggle up in front of a movie
It doesn’t have to be an actual Christmas movie as long as the Christmas tree lights are on.
Wearing festive PJs are also an absolute essential, as is having the right treats! Cracking open the chocolate at Christmas is part of our festive family tradition, so having these lovely Toffifee sweets has really helped us get into the celebratory mood!
3. Seek out some Christmas lights
Whether you head to your nearest town, all the way to London or just walk around your own neighbourhood, it’s lovely to check out the festive light displays.
So many people put a huge amount of effort into decorating their homes these days – I keep trying to convince my other half we need a light-up reindeer for the roof!
When putting up our own Christmas lights, we like to make an occasion out of it by putting on Christmassy music and indulging in a few sweet treats. Toffifee is the perfect festive fuel for this activity.
4. Play a game
Our two aren’t quite ready for Scrabble just yet, but they love to play I-Spy and snap. Getting together to play a game is a brilliant way to relax and have fun.
5. Tell a Christmas story
We have quite a collection of Christmas books now which the girls just love to read.
Whether we are snuggling up under a blanket in the day, or relaxing just before bedtime, talking about why Santa brings presents always gets them excited.
So those are my favourite ways to relax with the family over Christmas, but what are yours? Let me know!
