Whether you’re breastfeeding for hours in the day, or night, or looking for something to help your brain switch off in the evening, I have got some top shows to keep you entertained.
These are the top shows I’m in the middle of binge-watching, have watched twice already or have on my watch list ready to go once I have a gap in my schedule.
1. Brooklyn nine-nine
Hilarious sitcom about life in an NYPD station in Brooklyn. The gags come thick and fast. It’s pure silly entertainment.
2. The Staircase
Brilliant and compelling true crime documentary following the investigation and trial of Michael Peterson for the murder of his wife. She was found dead at the bottom of a staircase at their home. He says she fell. The cops say she was murdered.
Who is right? I still don’t know as I haven’t reached the end yet but it’s seriously addicted stuff. The film crew have amazing access to the case from the start with interviews with key parties.
3 Evil Genius
Another true crime documentary about the pizza bomb robber. Never heard of it? Neither had I.
In America in 2003 a pizza delivery guy walked into a bank and informed the cashier he was wearing a bomb. He fled with cash, only to be surrounded by cops as he tried to escape.
He told them he was wearing a bomb, and it was ticking. He also told them he was a kidnapping victim, who had been forced into wearing the bomb (attached by a collar to his neck). As police waited for the bomb squad, the bomb went off. What followed was an investigation spanning several years. Who built the bomb and forced the victim to wear it?
4. Love Island
If you haven’t got into Love Island yet, now is your chance! The perfect brain dead television. The first two seasons are on Netflix now!
5. Line of Duty
British cop drama about a team investigating corruption within the force. Great stories and top performances.
6. 13 Reasons Why
Totally heartbreaking so do not watch this when you’re under the influence of hormones!
This starts with the suicide of a teenage girl then unpicks the reasons why she took her life.
A total classic. I’ve watched every episode at least five times!
8. Black Mirror
Totally mind-blowing stuff! Each episode is stand alone and examines how evolving technology could impact on our lives in the future.
9. The Sinner
Jessica Biel is a mum who snaps and stabs a stranger to death in full view of dozens of witnesses on a beach one day. Why did she do it? Cop Bill Pullman is determined to find out why. Slick and sexy, you will be desperate to find out the truth!
10. Better Call Saul
The prequel to Breaking Bad, this is funny, witty and so clever.
11. Stranger Things
A must-watch if you are a child of the 80s. A sleepy town is caught up in supernatural events and a group of kids set out to save the day.
If you haven’t yet caught Benedict Cumberbatch as the famous detective then now is your chance!
13. Pride and Prejudice
The classic version starring Colin Firth! If you’ve seen it before, then now is the time to watch it again.
When an accountant who cooks the books for the mob lands in hot water with his employer, he must move his family out to the Ozark (a holiday town in America) so that he can earn cash to save his skin. Funny, clever and so well acted. I cannot wait for season two.
What’s on my watch list?
I’m yet to get into this period drama but everyone raves about it, and Aidan Turner’s hairy chest!
16. The Rain
A Danish show about a post-apocalyptic world where a disease spread through rain has killed thousands of people.
17. Peaky Blinders
I wasn’t sure about this one but then I heard Tom Hardy had guest-starred.
18. The Crown
I tried the pilot of this series about the royal family but I couldn’t get into it. I need to give it another try!
Speaking of the royal family, this is what Meghan Markle was up to before she married Harry.
20. Queer Eye
Lots of people are raving about this reboot of the show that sees a team of gay men fix up straight guys who need a little help. Apparently some episodes are total tearjerkers.
This is a few years old but apparently it was really funny and very binge-worthy. It’s about a suburban mum who turns to growing cannabis to make ends meet.
Do you have any Netflix recommendations? I would love to hear them!
